The Brainstorming Process
Brainstorming might be the MOST important step when it comes to creating a piece of art. When referring to the field of Graphic Design, often graphic designers are called visual problem solvers. Lets take a look at the example below in order to get a better understanding of what a graphic designer does.
Scenario: Creating a brand new shoe design for Nike.
You are a graphic designer working for the company Nike. Yesterday, the Creative Director for Nike scheduled a meeting with YOUR graphic design team and a new client. The client would like for the shoe to have some classic features and sporty features to it. The client also mentioned that the colors of the shoe HAVE to be black, grey and white. After the meeting, you also heard the client make the following comment, "...I don't really have any experience in creating art."

Questions to consider:
How can my team and I create a shoe that has classic and sporty features to it?
How can my team and I use the colors black, grey and white?
The list of questions here could be endless. However, as you can tell if brainstorming is not involved in the creating process, making this new shoe is almost impossible.
